South Main Street Road Closure
(November 9th, 2009 through Dec 25th, 2009Jan 15, 2010 now open. Expect some delay
We are pleased to let you know that the construction for the new Civic Center is underway.
Part of the work for the new Civic Center is to tie into and upgrade the utilities in South Main
Street as well as the street and sidewalks. Main Street will be shutting down for a time in order
to expedite this work. A detour will be temporarily put in place while the work is performed.
Installing a detour is the safest and most expeditious method, and will create the least impact
to the community. Most of this work will be completed this fall during the detour dates stated
above. The remainder of the work will be during the summer of 2010. Attached is a map of
the detour
South Main Street will be closed between South G Street and South E Street for public
improvements associated with the New Civic Center. Detours will be set up at the intersections
of South E & South G Streets, routing traffic around South Main Street. Northbound traffic will
exit South Main Street, turn west on South G Street, turn north on South 3rd Street, turn east on
South E Street, returning to South Main Street. Southbound traffic will exit South Main Street
onto South E Street, turn south on South 4th Street, turn east onto South E Street, returning to
South Main Street. There will also be "No Parking" signs at the intersections of South E & G
Streets, to accommodate vehicles turning. The east side of South 3rd Street will have "No
Parking" signs between South G and South E Streets in order to accommodate the added traffic.
Several residents will be impacted by the "No Parking" signs, as this will not allow them to park
in front of their residence. We certainly appreciate your patience and understanding in this
matter.
